After unsuccessfully trying to innocently combat the sweat of an endless seeming climb up to the Acropolis with cans of coke, my two friends and I got tickets for an ocean crossing. A trip to be less than endless but more than just a few hours, and totally sweat-free.
We were heading to Amorgos, a small island about halfway between Piraeus and Crete. And mind you, on a small enough boat that made me wonder if our backpacks were safe enough from jumping into the deep blue sea.
In the years to come my travel companions would not be able to resist slagging my slightly obsessive compulsive notions . Nevertheless I will forever remember the gentle rocking in that warm breeze, watching the waves in stunning blue water.
And then the island … inviting us to become permanent beach residents … a lazy dream of happiness erasing any thought about the past or the future … a happy dream to stay forever in my memory …
(Unfortunately no photos of this memorable vaccation exist. So I hope to compensate you with that photo above, an inviting view of Dalkey Harbour in Ireland.)
My love goes to ear-catching songs with inspiring, uplifting lyrics. Besides I adore unspoiled nature, reading mind-capturing novels, and writing.
Do I sound like a loner?? Heaven, yes, I am!! – But not all the time :)) – … For some people I gladly interrupt my solitude like for my voice coach, Alexandra Pengler, who allows my singing to be ultimately effortless joy .
‘August Sky’ (© Rita Bergmann 2015) is a track from the album ‘As Soon As Tomorrow’ produced by James Quinn at JAM Studios Kells in Ireland. (keyboards: James Quinn, guitars: Martin Quinn, drums: Andrew Quinn, backing vocals: Niamh Quinn – Yes, they’re all one family :))
